Benefits, Coverages, and OHIP

Psychotherapy services provided by private practitioners are not covered by OHIP. However, there are a growing number of extended benefits insurance plans that are accepting coverage for Registered Psychotherapists (RP) who are members of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and Registered Social Workers (RSW) who are members of the OCSWSSW. Please inquire directly with your insurance provider to confirm.

If RP or RSW are covered under your insurance benefits, the session fee will be payable at the time of the appointment and a receipt will be issued to you to be submitted to your insurance provider once payment for the session has been received.

If your therapist is an RP they may have to charge HST, however RSW are exempt. This is a government decision that we are actively trying to change. Consider signing this petition.
