Mental Health Support in Times of Crisis

If you’re reading this because things feel unbearable right now, please know: you don’t have to have the right words, and you don’t have to wait for a scheduled appointment to get support. The resources below are free, confidential, and available right now.

In an Emergency

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department (Joseph Brant in Burlington, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial, Milton District, or Georgetown Hospital).

24/7 Crisis Lines

COAST (Crisis Outreach and Support Team) — 1-877-825-9011. For anyone 16 and older experiencing a mental health crisis. A trained crisis worker answers around the clock, and COAST can also arrange for a mobile crisis team to come to you.

9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline — Call or text 988. A national line, available anytime, in English and French. If you’re having thoughts of suicide, or you’re worried about someone who might be, this line is for you.

Distress Centre Halton Support for crisis, loneliness, and emotional overwhelm — you don’t need to be in a full-blown emergency to call.

  • Oakville: 905-849-4541
  • Burlington: 905-681-1488
  • Milton/Halton Hills: 905-877-1211

For Children and Youth

ROCK (Reach Out Centre for Kids) — 905-878-9785. Available 24 hours for children and youth up to 18, with virtual walk-in clinics as well.

Kids Help Phone: Free and confidential, available 24/7 by phone, text, or chat.

Not Sure Where to Start?

OneLink — 905-338-4123 or 1-844-216-7411. If you’re looking for ongoing mental health or addictions support rather than an immediate crisis line, OneLink can help connect you to the right service in the region.

You Don’t Have to Sort This Out Alone

Reaching out — to a crisis line, a hospital, or a therapist — is not a sign that you’ve failed at coping. It’s a sign that you’re taking your own wellbeing seriously.

If you’re looking for ongoing support once the immediate crisis has passed, contact us for a free consultation

Please note: crisis line phone numbers can change. If a number above doesn’t connect, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
