Online Psychotherapy for Black Women

Virtual Therapy and Counselling for Black Women

Our team member, Lisa Bynoe-Stevens, offers a psychotherapy space for black women where you don’t have to explain yourself. This is psychotherapy created for black women, honouring your experiences, your culture, and your humanity.

What is Racial Trauma or Race-Related Mental Health Symptoms?

Racial trauma or race-based traumatic stress stems from experiencing or witnessing discrimination, racism, or hate.

Racial trauma is not limited to direct, first-hand experiences; it can stem from vicarious, second-hand experiences, such as watching videos of police brutality or hearing about attacks on others. It is rooted in structural racism and can be passed down across generations, often leading to a “perpetually punctured sense of self”.

Your Healing matters. You Matter.

Share what’s bringing you here, and see if this feels like the right fit. You deserve support that understands you.

Many black women come to therapy feeling:

  • Emotionally exhausted but “still holding it together.”
  • Invisible or misunderstood in traditional counselling services.
  • Pressured to be strong at the expense of your own needs
  • Impacted by race-related trauma, intergenerational trauma, or cultural expectations.
  • Navigating relationships and motherhood, work stress, identity, or life transitions.
