Alongside her clinical work, Lisa has always been passionate about contributing to the broader community through education, wellness, and mental health promotion. Over the years, she has facilitated seminars and presentations on topics including mental health, crisis management, and negotiation skills, while also creating and leading more than thirty social and health workshops and nearly fifteen health promotion initiatives.

At the heart of Lisa’s work is a deep passion for supporting and empowering individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds and lived experiences.

A Passion for Couples and Meaningful Connection

When Lisa opened her private practice in Toronto in 2007, she had a meaningful conversation with a mentor that would shape the direction of her career. When she shared her dream of specializing in couples therapy, his simple but powerful words — “Follow your heart” — stayed with her.

Not long after that conversation, her mentor passed away. His encouragement became part of the legacy that continues to guide her work today and strengthened her commitment to helping couples build healthier, more connected relationships.

Since then, Lisa has worked with countless couples navigating the complexities of love, communication, trust, family dynamics, and life transitions. She views the relationship itself as the client and creates a space where both partners feel heard, respected, and supported.

Areas of Focus and Clinical Interests

Lisa works with couples and individuals experiencing a wide range of relational and emotional concerns, including:

  • Premarital couple enrichment
  • Communication challenges and conflict resolution
  • Post-affair recovery and rebuilding trust
  • Blended family dynamics
  • Interracial and cross-cultural relationships
  • Arranged marital challenges
  • Women’s mental health
  • Online psychotherapy support for Black women
  • Racialized trauma and the impact of systemic oppression on mental health
  • Life transitions and relationship changes

Lisa also has experience supporting women in both individual and group therapy settings. She is especially passionate about working with Black women, offering a therapeutic space that is affirming, culturally responsive, and attentive to the lived realities of racialized stress and trauma. Her work centres both healing and empowerment, with a focus on helping clients feel seen, understood, and supported in their full identities.

What Working With Lisa Feels Like

Lisa’s approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in connection. She believes that relationships deserve care, attention, and support, especially during seasons of difficulty or disconnection.

When working with couples, Lisa draws from several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Her goal is to help couples strengthen communication, rebuild emotional safety, and deepen understanding of one another in ways that feel practical, meaningful, and lasting.

Whether clients are seeking support individually or within their relationships, Lisa creates a warm, supportive therapeutic environment where people can explore challenges openly, gain new insights, and move toward healthier, more fulfilling connections.
